6 Reasons why you should live in Spain!
Many people see living in Spain as a lifetime of siestas and laying on the beach all day, but the country has a lot more to offer. For already 2 months I live in Spain and I still have 3 months to go. It was not difficult for me to decide in what country I wanted to do my internship. I always wanted to learn the Spanish language and I must admit, Spain is one of my favourite countries. Are you interested why? I will give you some reasons why you should live in Spain!
1. Perfect climate
Let’s start off with the most obvious one: the weather. Yes, Spain has a terrific climate. Even the best in whole Europe! Although the temperatures differs throughout whole Spain, you should never forget your sun cream. Besides, don’t you agree that live is much better when the sun is shining?
2. ‘Que sera sera’ lifestyle
The stereotypes like daily siestas are more myth than fact, but the Spanish gracious lifestyle is all about enjoying the life. Whatever will be, will be. Some people in different countries are all too busy with what will happen in the future. Spain is a lot more down to earth and enjoying life day by day with long family meals, strolling through the streets in the evenings and holding fiestas when possible.
3. Spanish people
The people in Spain are very kind, warm and welcoming and almost everybody has a strong sense of family. They are somehow extrovert, laughing is valued highly and it is easy to strike up conversations with friendly locals. They know how to enjoy life and they love food. I am sure you will meet people who will feel like family when you live in Spain.
Spanish is one of the world’s leading languages, spoken by approximately 450 million people. I really love the language. The sounds that roll of the tip of their tongue is in my opinion magical. Take the advantage of living in Spain to learn the language yourself. Nelson Mandela once said “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart”. Speak Spanish with the locals and you will be treated like a member of their family.
5. A UNESCO paradise
Spain is a paradise for culture-seekers. With 44 UNESCO World Heritage sites spread throughout the whole country has Spain the third most UNESCO World Heritage sites out of all the countries in the world! The rich and multicultural history of the country is kept alive and easy to encounter when you live in Spain.
6. Importance of food
Not only for culture-seekers is Spain a great country, also for food-lovers. The fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, best wines and olive oil seem to be the perfect ingredients for a healthy life. Spain has great gastronomic bars which will put your sentences to test. With the concept of tapas you can enjoy food all day together with your friends of family. Visit the local market to buy your fresh food and practise your language skills at the same time!
